Google Ads adds AI-powered insights to experiment reporting
Google Ads is introducing AI-generated summaries for campaign experiments, giving advertisers a faster way to understand test results and decide what to do next.
What’s new. A new AI-powered panel in the Summary tab of Google Ads experiments provides an overview of experiment goals, key findings and recommended actions.
How it works. Instead of relying entirely on manual analysis of experiment scorecards, advertisers can use the AI-generated summary to quickly identify important takeaways and potential next steps.
Performance Max changes: Google has also clarified what happens when advertisers apply different types of Performance Max experiments:
- Migration experiments: Traffic moves fully to Performance Max.
- Optimization experiments: Tested settings are permanently applied.
- Custom experiments: Advertisers can manually select the winning version.
Why we care. The update could make experimentation more accessible, particularly for teams managing multiple campaigns and tests. AI-generated summaries may help advertisers identify meaningful performance changes faster and spend less time interpreting individual metrics.
Yes, but. AI recommendations shouldn’t replace statistical judgment. Advertisers still need to consider experiment duration, conversion volume, statistical significance and business objectives before deciding whether a test was successful.
The bigger picture. Google is increasingly integrating AI into campaign management, moving beyond automated bidding and creative generation to help advertisers interpret performance and make optimization decisions.
The bottom line. AI-powered experiment summaries could make testing easier to manage, but advertisers should treat Google’s recommendations as a starting point rather than automatically applying every suggested change.
