Google Search Console Will Send Typical Webmaster Notifications to Fewer People
Google will only notify the site owners, not property owners, for most Google Search Console notifications starting in a few weeks.
Gary Illyes from the Google Webmaster Trends Analyst team announced that the Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools, will start sending their notifications to fewer people for the average notification type. The change will come into play in about three weeks and will only affect the average type of notification.
Google will now only notify the direct owner of the site in question, not the property owner. For example, if a site such as https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel triggers a message within the Google Search Console, Google would notify any owners under the sites:
https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel (the site triggering the message)
https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a
https://example.com/dont/panic/have
https://example.com/dont/panic
https://example.com/dont
https://example.com
Now, only the owner of https://example.com/dont/panic/have/a/towel will receive the notification in the Google Search Console. According to Gary Illyes, the change won’t affect how Google notifies webmasters of more critical messages, such as notifications that a site has been hacked.
