What’s The Most Searched Thing On Google? Turns Out It’s “Google”
Webmaster Trends Analyst Gary Illyes said the most searched term on Google is "Google" itself during SMX West session.
During yesterday’s “How to Secure Your Site for Google’s HTTPS Algorithm” SMX West session, Google Webmaster Trends Analyst Gary Illyes revealed that the most searched thing on Google is “Google” itself.
While discussing the importance of sites shifting to secure search, Illyes pointed out that many people search Google to find login pages for popular sites like Facebook. Emphasizing the point of unexpected searches, he said “Google” is the most popular search topic the search engine handles.

When asked what most searchers click on after searching “Google” on Google, Illyes wasn’t certain if the first link — leading them back to Google’s homepage — gets the most clicks.
Illyes went on to say that he would be running an internal test to flag sites with broken security certificates since this happens with nearly half the secure sites Google sees. Depending on how the experiment goes, Google may decide to publicly flag sites with broken security certificates as potentially unsafe.
