Google to migrate Travel campaigns to Search campaigns for Travel

Google will auto-transition Travel campaigns to Search campaigns for Travel starting in Q3 2026, which can also be done manually.

Google will begin migrating Travel campaigns to Search campaigns for Travel starting in Q3 2026, automatically moving advertisers to the new campaign type while preserving existing settings where possible.

The migration is part of Google’s broader effort to consolidate travel advertising into a single Search-based campaign experience with AI-powered bidding, reporting and campaign management.

What’s happening. Existing Travel campaigns will be automatically replaced with new Search campaigns for Travel, with Google creating new campaigns that mirror the closest equivalent settings from the originals. Advertisers can also choose to migrate manually before their scheduled transition date.

Google says advertisers should monitor their account notifications and email for their specific migration timeline.

Why we care. Automatic migrations can save time, but they also give advertisers an opportunity to review campaign settings, bidding strategies and reporting before the switch takes place. Brands that prefer greater control may want to migrate manually and validate performance before Google performs the transition automatically.

The bigger picture. Search campaigns for Travel were introduced earlier this year to bring travel feeds and formats into a unified Search campaign experience. The new campaign type combines AI Max capabilities, advanced bidding, search term reporting and travel-specific formats into a single workflow, replacing the fragmented approach of managing multiple travel campaign types.

Bottom line. Travel advertisers don’t need to take immediate action, but they should watch for migration notices and prepare for their campaigns to move to Search campaigns for Travel over the coming months.
