renae and lola cottamIn a horrific sequence of events, Oregon SEO consultant Michael Cottam lost both of his parents on the evening of June 16, 2013 near Myrtle Point, Oregon when Renae and Lola Cottam were murdered in their home before their house was set on fire by the suspected killer.

Instead of sending flowers and gifts, Michael asked donations be made to the Myrtle Point Public Library Foundation in the name of Renae and Lola Cottam. According to Michael, his parents had often commented that if they ever won the lottery, they would make sure Myrtle Point got a new library.

In response to Michael’s request, a number of SEO organizations have pledged to collect donations for the Myrtle Point Library Foundation during upcoming events, including SEMCLE+, SEMpdx, DFWSEM, SLCSEM and Moz.

Individual donations can be made via the Cottam Library Fund website at https://npo.justgive.org/myrtlepointlibrary.

“They often took my son Benjamin, their only grandchild, to the library when he was visiting them,” wrote Michael on the Lola and Renae Cottom Rebuild a Library Facebook page, “We want their grandson Ben (whose first word was ‘book’, which Renae and Lola Cottam loved to tell people) to see this library project as an example of how we can turn the bad and evil in this world upside down and create something amazing and permanent that helps their community.”
