Bing logo large Microsoft Bing has announced they've added a new feature to the school snapshot boxes on the right hand panel -- the school's rating. They've added school ratings, rankings and academic indicators directly in Bing Snapshot. Microsoft says this works for searching for schools from elementary to high school to higher education. Bing Expands Snapshot With New Food & Drug Entities

The new at-a-glance information for these searches will appear in the Snapshot area on the right side of Bing's search results. Bing Snapshot Adds 150 Million New Entities & Relationships To Search Engine

This is part of Microsoft Bing's efforts to improve and grow their knowledge engine they named Satori. Most recently, they added tax help and famous people data to the engine. Bing’s Satori Adds Timeline Data For About 500k Famous People

The new "Timeline" section is now showing up in the right-side search results for famous people such as Abraham Lincoln and Isaac Asimov (shown above), along with athletes (Serena and Venus Williams), artists (Vincent Van Gogh), business people (Bill Gates, Donald Trump, etc.), explorers (Sacagawea) and other important people. Bing Gives IE11 Users A Quick Look At The Top Search Result With New “Pre-Rendering” Feature

With the goal of providing a "faster end-to-end search experience," the new "pre-rendering" feature is currently available only to IE11 users. Bing Adds People Autosuggest: Find Celebrities & Colleagues With Public LinkedIn Profiles

Bing People Snapshot According to Bing, people searches account for roughly 10 percent of all searches on Bing, second only to navigational queries. Today, the company announced updates to Bing Snapshot with people autosuggest which provides a thumbnail image and brief description of individuals related to people searches. The screenshot below shows suggestions on a search for Michelle Williams. Bing Snapshot Grows To Understand People, Places & Things With “Satori” Expansion

Is Bing Testing “Subjectship” Rather Than Authorship In Its Search Results?

Bing Expands Its Snapshot To Include People & Landmarks

Bing Relaunches, Features New Social Sidebar, Snapshots

bing-social-featured Bing announced a relaunch of its search engine today, with a big emphasis on bringing social into search. But wait! Didn't Bing already have social as part of its search experience? Yes, but now the search engine hopes to do it better, especially by largely off-loading social elements into a new sidebar area.
