As Twitter's traditional blue check mark system reaches its conclusion, the social media platform's newly introduced paid verification process is causing quite the chaos.
“An emailed request for comment to Twitter, which no longer has a communications team, returned an automated reply with a poop emoji.”
This only will apply to the For You and Following timelines. Twitter Blue now has just under 500,000 subscribers.
Several search marketers and brands will soon lose their verified account status on Twitter unless they pay for Twitter Blue.
For $12-$15 a month you can get a blue check on Facebook and Instagram
Previously the blue checkmark was reserved for public figures such as lawmakers, actors, musicians, sports athletes and journalists.
The new feature is available in the US only.
The new "Official" label was announced, and then less than 24 hours later, was removed.
As brand safety risks increase, some advertisers are waiting to see whether Twitter will be a respected platform or a free-for-all hellscape.
Twitter is continuing to test and add new features that allow multiple media types on posts, as well as expanding its edit button capabilities.
You may soon be able to subscribe to receive push notifications for tweets matching any search queries you want.
Twitter says it's been working on a feature that will allow users to edit tweets. The catch: it will only be available to Twitter Blue users.
