Yahoo Search will be launching new Search Shortcuts for health, consumer electronics and NFL related queries.

Health
Yahoo will pull data for their health shortcuts from Yahoo Health and utilize their Yahoo Groups and Yahoo Answers services as well as other authoritative health sites to provide useful and quick answers to your health related searches.

For example, a search on Alzheimer’s returns a result that looks like this:

As you can see, Yahoo links you to Yahoo Health, articles on symptoms, treatments, and medications. Plus they have links to community sites such as Yahoo Groups, Yahoo Answers and other resources.

Consumer Electronics
Looking for electronics? Want a new digital camera, cell phone, laptop or MP3 player? Yahoo is now offering shortcuts for many consumer electronics oriented queries. Yahoo uses their Yahoo Shopping database to let you filter by brand, popular products and helpful articles on reviews and buying guides. Here is a sample search on digital cameras.

NFL
The football season is here and Yahoo has released some new football search shortcuts.

For example, a search on Tom Brady returns his picture, name, number, position, news, scores, schedules, photos, quick stats and more.

Yes, Yahoo released a baseball shortcut just about two weeks ago.

It is important to add that Yahoo is not the only search engine providing quick results at the top for health queries, electronics queries and football queries. Ask.com, Google and other search engines do similar things with SmartAnswers and OneBox results.
