Google Pushing Out Panda Update 3.9 Tonight

Google says it will roll out the latest update to its Panda algorithm later tonight.

The company posted the news a few minutes ago on Twitter, saying this update will affect about one percent of search results.

By our count, this is Panda Update 3.9. The previous update, 3.8, occurred just about a month ago — on June 25th.

Panda rolled out initially in February 2011 and was designed to remove low-quality/thin content from Google’s search results.

For more background on the Panda algorithm, see our Panda Update News archive.

Haha Google and their updates. They never hit the right spot ever :D

Yes, but if those SEOs didn’t have fire drills like this to deal with they wouldn’t be employed.  It’s sort of like a forest needs fire.

This hurts some but also helps others as far as search engine ranking.

This one seems like a particularly buggy update. I didn’t know about this article until today—24 hours after it was published. When doing some manual rank checking, I noticed that that the serps were clogged with multiple contiguous listings from the same website. For instance, pages from “bluewidgets.com” would occupy results 124 to 135. After seeing that more than a few times I thought, “Hmm, was there an algo update?”, which led me to SEL.

Are you certain about that Dr. Root? How can you tell? Just curious.

Read the tweet, Google categorically mentioned “Data Refresh”

  • http://www.davidmcohen.com/ David Cohen

Well the SEOs who think SEO is mostly about building robust backlink profiles, keyword research and outreach emails need these fire drills. In reality, SEO has moved way beyond this.

Fasten your seatbelt. We have bad weather coming our way.

Whatever be the update finally the quality of site matters. As long as sites follow ethical SEO methods they won’t be affected by the SE updates.

I need a new Penguin update. Panda updates do not affect me. I had very bad backlinks with the same keywords and cleaned them. What do you think when it will arrive or will it every arrive?

  • http://www.shoutmeloud.com/ Harsh Agrawal

@nnvent:disqus  It’s mentioned in the official Tweet that it’s a data refresh: https://twitter.com/google/status/227901862706298880

WOW, Interesting news. Google is doing right. Spam should be punished.

Interesting I have been noticing lately the rankings have been fluctuating dramatically. When will the next Penguin update roll out I wonder…

  • http://twitter.com/MillatMarblePk Millat Marble

Something that is bad for one is better for other. Think this way.

  • http://twitter.com/MillatMarblePk Millat Marble

Dont be disappointed. SEOs will find new ways and there is no shortage of ideas for them. Google is opening new avenues for the people.

Crap update, can find many sub links of a page (a big website), it totally sucks.

How google is going to stop sites like minifreelance is difficult to say. A lot of online marketers ask workers to post ( positive) review  on minifreelance that give then added advantage.

  • http://cmsreport.com Bryan Ruby

Max Pinton is correct. Unless there is a major change to Panda, 3.10 would be the “standard” for a version number with most software development projects I’ve worked with. You confused me with that 3.91…I would be asking where is 3.90?

Really want to know what exactly is changed???

Wouldn’t it be great if the guidelines were clear and not in Googlespeak.

I like these updates.  We have seen an uptick in google traffic since June, meaning that all the crap in front of us is now moved behind us.  Bring it on Google.

     Thank you

I think we should learn Kung Fu in order to defeat panda. Or else, eat noodles and see your rankings drop :)

  • gamerumble

My site got hit again! I did saw some low quality pages on my site and I’m still hopeful that I can regain my lost traffic. How is it that instead of people here suggesting ways to improve they all just complain!

  • http://twitter.com/AuthorityBuzz Authority Buzz

I haven’t seen much impact from this update. Patiently waiting for a Penguin update.

  • Oral Seymour

YOU are in THEIR search engine so why not follow THEIR RULES…..you can always block them and stop complaining…People like you give me a headache every time their is an update and you bitch and complain about how Google is looking out for it’s best interest…..It’s looking out for the users, people who are using Google and who want good, clean, relevant, no spam results.

  • Rajesh Kannan

After this update, my old sites came up to the #1 position after 1.5 years …. Am really happy about this update…
