Today is Super Tuesday, which means that voters in 24 states are carefully reviewing their candidate research and doing last minute thoughtful analysis in preparation for voting in the primaries. Well, maybe that’s hopeful optimism, but in any case, the place these voters are turning to for information is increasingly the internet. Makes sense, as […]
Finally, Barry and I can share an application that we’ve been cooking up — Search News For Facebook. Install this, and by default you’ll get the top headlines from Search Engine Land and Search Engine Roundtable combined, showing on your Facebook profile page. You can also add your own feed or any feeds you like […]
A much discussed blog posting this morning comes from Saul Hansell at the New York Times, who spoke to both Google and Yahoo about their plans to turn their email products into social networks, in a manner of speaking: “Inbox 2.0.” The plans discussed in the post suggest some clever and creative thinking about how […]
We’ve had a huge blogroll on Search Engine Land since we started last year. Inspired by some recent posts, I’ve now organized that massive list into categories, to make it easier for those looking to find some good blog reading. First, AOL launched MyNetscape, followed by the release of “universal video widgets” on Pageflakes. Then the new MyYahoo launched. Yesterday Netvibes unveiled “Coriander,” its next product release with new content modules. […]
Read/WriteWeb has a good overview of the just yesterday relaunched (ahead of schedule) new, more ajaxified MyYahoo. There are a number of improvements and upgrades: * Pre-built personalized pages * Category pages for topics and “content suggestions” * Further customization of their page with drag-and-drop modules * Feed previews and a full post reader on […]
PC World reports that My Yahoo will be launching an updated version within a few weeks. The reports do not specify exactly what we will see from the upgrade, but I am suspecting we may just see an enhanced RSS reader built into the portal.
FeedBurner’s View of the Feed Market at FeedBurner’s blog gives us a detailed look at the numbers and statistics behind your feeds. With the recent adoption of Google Reader subscriber numbers, many bloggers have seen their “subscribers” and other feed stats spike up. In fact, we learn from FeedBurner’s post that overall; publishers noticed an […]
This subject is worthy of perhaps a 10,000 word New Yorker article. But this will just be a relatively short post based on some thinking following a meeting with Netvibes CEO Tariq Krim in San Francisco the other day.

Ex-Yahoo Exec now Pageflakes CEO by Om Malik reports that Dan Cohen, who was the Head of My Yahoo business unit, left Yahoo to become the CEO of Pageflakes. Gary Price recently reviewed Pageflakes, describing it as an easy and free way to “build a dynamic personalized home/start page.” It is a lot like Google […]
