Google Goes Black With Black Navigation Bar Test

Google is now heavily testing a new top bar color, that color is black.

Google began testing this back about a month ago, as reported by Google Operating System but now Google seemed to have stepped up those tests. So much so, users are complaining that their custom Google home page designs look bad because of the new black bar.

Last week we reported Google was testing a grayed out design interface. As you know, Google constantly tests new designs, features and layouts – so this comes with no surprise.

As a side note, Google is also testing a black YouTube player.

I’ll second that. Please get rid of the black.

It looks awful! At the very least keep it consistent by having a black drop down menu under ‘more’. Just looks a little bit odd.

I though at first t it (the black strip) was an artefact in my browser after logging in to twitter and even refreshed the page to make sure it wasn’t!

Some of the buttons in gmail could do with highlighting as the page is crowded and and there is not much visual differentiation of the the on-page text for items like the ‘compose new mail’ link. I thought this could do with more attention than the Google Search page.
