Microsoft Adds Ad Rotation Option To adCenter

Microsoft announced they are adding a new ad serving feature to adCenter.

The new feature is ad rotation and will allow advertisers to either (1) rotate the ads by to optimize for clicks or (2) rotate ads more evenly despite clicks or conversions.

Here is a screen shot of the feature which is found under at the ad group level:

Google AdWords allows you to rotate ads but they offer three options, (1) optimize for clicks, (2) optimize for conversions or (3) rotate ads evenly. But Google tried to remove ad rotation in April but due to advertiser complaints they brought back the feature to those who want it.

Hot damn it’s about time! I always did my testing in google for this VERY reason… the bing ad serving algo runs off with the farm WAY too quickly to the detriment of almost every ad test I’ve launched on their platform – try to force the ‘loser’ down their throat and your impressions drop dramatically. Now, so long as they actually serve these impressions no matter their CPM, I will be a happy, HAPPY man. Kudos for finally implementing this.

AdCenter actually used to have the option of even ad rotation before they removed it around the time of the search alliance. We were all scratching our heads when they decided to remove it and for a couple of years now just accepted the fact that we couldn’t do proper ad a/b testing. I’m glad that they finally listened to their advertisers and reintroduced it but quite frankly, it shouldn’t have taken so long..
