I think its good that search engines include different services into the search results, but lets hope they don’t over do it. Also, i have been hearing a lot of negative news about Yelp’s reviews, the latest one claiming that more then 90% of the reviews were done by the same people (possibly bots?). Here is another image of how it looks (Source: ReCode) http://recodetech.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/yelpyahoo.jpg?w=640

poor implementation – Yahoo should get out of search

  • thunker

This is terrible.! I understand Yahoo wanting to get back into search, but also including a Yelp review front and center is horrible. I mean, sorry but Yelpers are not the sharpest crayons in the box. Also myself, and plenty others as well, have a strong sense of distrust and even dare I say, disgust for all things Yelp. Now when I search, I just want to search and not be forced to read some dorkwads crappy review on how it gave some coffee shop 1 star because they were playing music from some bands third album when they should have been playing side two of the first one. And yes, we all know those reviews exist.

See, I get all excited just thinking about this.

Not at all happy about this. My small business started out using Yahoo Local Reviews and I had over 40 “5 star” unique user reviews that are now gone and replaced by the 10 I have on Yelp whom I discourage all my customers from writing reviews there due to their B.S. filter system which is nothing more than outright extortion. I thought Marissa Mayer was brought in to make Yahoo competitive again, not just fold and plugin to another service. That’s just plain lazy and defeatist. At least, leave the old Yahoo reviews up because they still can be informative to consumers who want to know more about your business.
