As many of you know, Microsoft’s Bing went live early this morning and many searchers had a chance to get their feet wet with the new search engines. I have been hearing a mix of reaction on Bing and I thought I share some of those articles and blog posts with commentary on Bing’s debut.

  • Michael Arrington claims Bing is “somewhat” of a hit.
  • Loic Le Meur did not like some of his ego searches early on, but Microsoft was listening
  • Loic Le Meur also noticed some pretty hard core porn on Bing, but to be fair, he had to override the safe filter to see those results.
  • Beet.tv questions the legality of Bing using live video thumbnails.
  • Sample the Web calls Bing a success for Microsoft.
  • However, The Next Web was not as impressed, saying they will be sticking with Google.
  • Ars Technica said Bing will be used like they use Live.com, as a backup to Google.
  • ReadWrite/Web feels that Bing is not full of hot air.
  • WebMonkey is impressed with Bing but says it is not Google.

There is a ton of opinion on Bing and predictions on the future of Bing and Microsoft in search. To read more about these opinions and predictions, see Techmeme.

Also, I saw a tweet about a promotion Microsoft will be literally running for Bing. A picture of the truck is on Flickr, which explains:

This is a truck that will be rolling starting soon in the Seattle area (at least) It has live traffic on it powered by the awesome combination of Bing search, maps and traffic.
