Google Instant Previews Via Mouse Over

Google has announced an improvement to their instant previews feature they originally launched in November of last year.

The improvement lets you simply hover your mouse over a search result and the preview will automatically show up on the right hand preview column.

Google said:

Now these previews are no longer even a click away: if you move your mouse over a search result, arrows will appear. Hover over them to see a visual preview of that result.

Here is a picture:

I personally do not see this feature yet, but many have reported seeing this being tested for months now and many are now seeing it being rolled out.

Hi Barry, after writing about the original Google experiment back in August, I’ve written a follow up about the newly released version of Google Instant Previews

The mouseover effect really makes it quick to preview searches, but as in Google’s example it comes into it own when searching for a specific image on a website. I still feel it lacks something when searching for more textual content, even though Google’s changed the background colour of the text preview to black.
