Just as Google saw when looking at overall search data, AdGooroo discovered by looking at ad clicks on Google: Frozen’s Elsa is this year’s golden child of Halloween in the U.S.
Of the $2.9 million advertisers spent on 1,128 Halloween costume keywords, paid search research firm AdGooroo found that Elsa dominated the $2.9 million advertisers spent on Google search ads on desktop and tablets in August and September.
Advertisers spent a total of $385,000 on 14 Elsa costume-related keywords in August and September.
Approximately $720,000, or 31 percent, of all Halloween costume adverting was spent on Disney-owned characters. Of that, Frozen characters accounted for $550,000 or 62 percent of ad spend on Disney character Halloween costumes, and 19 percent of the overall spend.
Mr. Blobby, John Adams Among Least Popular Costumes
AdGooroo also took a look at the least popular Halloween costumes based on ad click spend. If you’re going for a unique costume this year, this is a list worth consulting.
Advertisers spent a total of $3.11 in August and September on ads for costumes of British TV Character, Mr. Blobby.
You’ll also likely stand out at the party among all the Elsas and Wonder Women if you come as John Adams, a worm or Xena The Warrior Princess.
