    Hi Brian,
This is great. I do something like this, too, but I then take that whole URL string from Google’s URL builder and paste it into Bitly to make it more manageable. I’ve had some comment sections and various url fields cut off my wonderfully long tracking string. Thus, bitly it (hey, if we can use Google as a verb now…) and make it easier to see in analytics too as it will show your tracking variables.

I’ve used a whole range of tools to try and sort out my social activity and track what produces results. I’ve worked on a project with Optify (www.optify.net) and like their Twitter for Business app/function (full disclosure I helped with a couple of webinars this spring). I use SocialOomph for some twitter management, too. oharan

But I’ve built up a list of 220+ tools for social media monitoring and am working on a bunch of stuff around that, so I see and read a lot about analytics and measurement. Your post and methods are helpful. Thanks for sharing them. I’m subscribing to your RSS now!

Sorry for the typo in my comment. The Captcha field somehow displayed in the comments!

By the way, here’s the link to my site if you want it, complete with URL builder tracking built into Bit.ly link. 200+ Social Media Monitoring Tools

Okay Brian, been playing with the spreadsheet. Sweet! That will save me a ton of time getting into the URL builder one at a time. Nice concatenation! Super cool. Thank you. Now I just have to hook into the bit.ly API and figure out a faster url shrink.

    TJ,

I checked out your 200+ Social Media Monitoring Tools. My head always spins when I see a list like that.

What you need to do is categorize this into a “If you want to… then try …” sort of list.

I’m glad you found the spreadsheet helpful. Please share your results with me as you begin to collect data.

    Best regards,
    Brian
